MLLTM Chapter 9

My eyes were wide open as I looked over to Lariensa and the others who were eating and sharing food behind her.

“First, Emily.”

Emily’s shoulder flinched.

“If I would ever have a boyfriend, I would tell you guys first. So that means Sibel is really not my boyfriend or someone that I’m flirting with.”

Those guys rolled their eyes, seemingly not convinced. Before they could even open their mouths, I immediately shut them off.

“I won't take any questions or rebuttal. And Natalie…”

Natalie put down the cookie she was about to eat.

“Dating is good, but whether it is B4 or F4, just give it up. Even before, what mattered the most was the personality and not the face.”

“According to an old saying, it’s better to be both kind and good-looking rather than lacking one of it.”

“…Who told you that?”

“My mom. She said she doesn’t like my dad, who’s both ugly and has a blunt personality.”

"……"

Umm… that suddenly became awkward. 

I immediately changed my attention to Violet.

“And you, Violet. I don't want to be scolded for studying by you who are getting fat every time you solve a problem.”

I could see Violet getting riled up, but I stopped her by repeating the words I had said earlier.

“I won't take any objections. Finally, Lariensa.”

Lariensa cowered and looked up at me with her head slightly down. 

Perhaps you're sorry that you quickly became angry at me. 

Sigh. What should I do with this meek child?

“Do you believe in me? Or do you believe in what others say?”

“…Of course, I believe in Marin.”

“Then should you listen to Sibel, or believe in my words?”

“Marin’s words…”

“Have I ever lied to you?”

Lariensa shook her head.

Neither I nor the real Marilyn would have lied to Lariensa.

Everyone was just lying to tease Lariensa, but I believe that everyone had no ill intent towards her, and all was in good jest.

In the original story, after the real Marilyn turned her back on Lariensa, Marilyn whispered many lies to her, but now that I'm in this body, Marilyn won't turn black. 

And so far, Marilyn has never lied to Lariensa! 

“I have nothing to do with Sibel. We've run into each other for a moment, but it’s not what you think it is.”

Before my friends could bombard me with questions, I poured out what I had prepared to say beforehand.

“Sibel just picked up the coat that I had dropped on the street before by accident and returned it to me…”

I did not drop it on the street, but I threw it at Sibel exactly. However, I need to say it in an angle that won’t compromise me because it would be difficult to explain the situation to my friends. 

“I was about to throw that coat anyway, so I didn’t mind throwing it at the garbage and I think he found out about it. That's why I think he deliberately said something that might be misunderstood in front of you guys to get me in trouble.”

Lariensa's face grew brighter and brighter as if the weather had cleared up after the rain.

“So, you really have nothing to do with that Blue guy?”

“Blue? You mean Sibel?”

Violet stepped in and explained what ‘Blue’ means. 

“I guess she wanted to curse Sibel, and calling him ‘Blue’ was the worst curse that Lariensa could make.”

“Aha.”

I was immediately convinced. I can't believe you called that guy ‘Blue’ because of his hair… As expected, Lariensa was simple. It's too cute to call it a curse.

“But no matter how angry he was with you, was it necessary to say something so misleading? Won’t such rumors cause a problem for him too?”

Emily was keener than I thought.

Well, you know what? Sibel is not just your ordinary student. He is so clever that no matter how strange a rumor gets around, he can get away with it by himself. 

And what’s more? Sibel seems eager to use me to get close to Lariensa and get some information about her.

Okay? So please stop paying attention to Sibel so that Lara would also stop paying attention to him! 

“Ma… Marilyn! You're fuming!”

It would be great if I could spill out all the words in my mind without thinking about anything. 

But I can't really do that.

“You all be quiet. If Marin says it’s nothing, then there really is nothing! From now on, I'm only going to believe in what Marin says.”

Lariensa beamed and wagged her invisible tail. 

Awwiee, my baby. She listens very well. 

But whether Lariensa will do it or not, Violet gave an answer at her own discretion. 

“…Then, that only means one thing.”

Oh, come on! I'm scared every time you speak with such a serious face!

What came out of Violet's mouth was something that shook my entire existence.

“If you’re not flirting then, Sibel definitely likes you!”

“!!!”

Natalie made a surprised gesture, covering her mouth with her hand. Emily gasped and also did the same.

Violet, don't look so proud…

What was worse was that Lariensa's face darkened again.

Lara, that’s not it! The one he’s interested in is you, you idiot!

“Marin? Are you interested in Blue?”

“No, not at all.”

I’m already having a hard time trying to keep you safe. Why would I start considering dating now?

I don’t have any interest in dating!

I am only looking at you!

“Really? Is that Blue bothering you?" 

“It’s annoying, but it’s just a minor inconvenience. Lara, you don't have to care. So…”

I was about to tell Lariensa to never care about Sibel. But suddenly…

Knock knock

Someone was knocking at the door.

“Who’s that?”

It was not yet past curfew time, so I opened the door with a slight wonder.

“Marilyn Launer?”

The dorm manager stood in front of the door.

“Yes, that’s me.”

“You have a guest.”

A guest? That’s strange. I was not expecting someone to visit me this time.

If it was a female student, then there’s no need for the manager to come here. She could have just come here right away. But with the manager here, it meant that the guest was a male student.

No way, is it Sibel?!

“Who is it?”

“It’s Lycan Jellinus.”

Lariensa poked out her head.

“My brother?”

I asked the dorm manager in a bewildered voice.

“Are you sure he’s not looking for Lariensa?”

“No. He specifically asked for Marilyn Launer.”

Lariensa smiled brightly and held my arms. 

“As expected, my brother also thinks of Marin as a family. Why don’t you go and ask brother why he wants to talk to you?”

I left the room with a rather wistful nod. Seeing my friends rush to Lariensa before I close the door, it seemed like they were trying to pry into the relationship between Lycan and me. 

Lara is a serious airhead, that’s why she might say something that could be misunderstood by them.

I was very concerned about leaving them behind, but I couldn't let Lycan wait for a long time, so I hurried down.

Why did Lycan come to see me? I’m not his sister, so why?  

I was wondering about it, but it was something that I couldn't figure out myself. 

As I hurried downstairs and headed for the entrance of the dormitory, I could see him walking around and looking distracted.

“Brother Lycan!”

Lycan tried to come near me as soon as he saw me, but then faltered when he realized that I had not yet crossed the main door. It was strange to see that chivalrous gesture of him, immediately realizing that he was at the girl’s dormitory and treaded lightly. Or was it because of the school rules?

But it's not the main dormitory hall (it was just in the lobby), so one can go over the main door.

“The manager said you were looking for me.”

I walked fast, thinking of Lycan, who was waiting for a long time.

“Are you sure you’re looking for me, and not Lara?”

Finally, I crossed the main door.

"As expected, those words were misunderstood…" 

“Is it true?”

I didn’t know what he meant when he asked that question.

“I mean the rumors.”

Here I was wondering what you were talking about…

I looked at Lycan pathetically without hiding any signs of it.

You pretended to be an adult yourself, but I never thought you'd believe such a rumor…

“Just tell me. I asked if the rumors were real.”

I'm tired of explaining it every time! I'm tired! 

“Even if the rumors are real, why are you so affected by it?”

“Then… is it really true?”

“Argh, if it’s true, then what will you do?!”

Lycan suddenly staggered over the wall. I was also surprised by the sudden action. 

“Why are you so shocked?”

“I also don’t know. Why am I like this…?”

As soon as the rumor spread that Sibel and I were in some kind of relationship, he came to check it out. Then, when I didn't explain it properly to him because I was too lazy to do so, he thought that was really true and suddenly looked perplexed…

It was as Lariensa said. Lycan cares a lot about me.

No way…  did he just come here for that reason alone?

“Brother.”

It would be quite embarrassing if I point that out to him and assume otherwise, but it occurred to me that I should be more conscious if that was indeed the case.

“I’m just joking. I don’t have anything to do with Sibel.”

“…Really?”

“Yes.”

“Then why didn't you refute it right away?”

“I'm tired of explaining everything, and for your information, I'm never going to date someone, like forever.”

“Forever…?”

“Yes, foreeever!”

I heard no answer coming back from Lycan. He stood upright and thought for a moment with his arms folded. Then he muttered to himself. 

“…I don't like it.”

I didn't miss out on those words that he just said to himself.

“Why don't you like it when I say I don't want to date?”

“…I also don’t know.”

“Don't think too much if you don't know. If you don't know, do you think you'll get the answer? Anyways, do you understand? I don't intend to have a boyfriend for the rest of my life, so if you hear that rumor again, just ignore it.”

“Your thoughts might change later on. I don't know why you're already thinking like that at such a young age.”

“Oh, you're so persistent. That's up to me to decide.”

“Yes, but…”

“Just go ahead now. Isn't it time for your training?”

When I forced Lycan to go back to training, he looked quite dissatisfied, but he eventually returned back to the training camp.

“Huu… I’m tired.”

Today, I confronted Sibel, explained the situation to my friends and Lariensa, and now Lycan…

Sibel didn't curse me out this day, did he?! 

Anyway, it’s good that I was able to give out a rough explanation to them. I took a breather and went back to my room.

That night, I had a vivid dream about the original storyline of the novel… 

『Chapter 30 - Angel in a Cage 

Lariensa Jellinus, the owner of a beautiful heart one would want to protect, was called the Cloud Academy’s Angel.

“Sibel…”

The owner of a beautiful heart? Sibel laughed at that statement.

He did not believe that a person could have a pure and kind heart. The same was true even if it is Lariensa, who he felt attracted to for a reason. But what is this feeling now? 

Lariensa warmly held his hand and then rubbed his cheeks.

“What are you doing?”

Sibel, who failed to overcome the strong wave of emotion he felt on his chest, yelled at her.

"Why don't you stop being so pretentious and tell me how you really feel? That I’m horrible, disgusting! That I’m a monster!"

That's why he didn't withdraw his hand from Lariensa's grip. He was going to test how much of her pretenses could stand this awful hand. 

But Lariensa tightly held Sibel's hand even more.

“You’re not horrible, and you’re not disgusting.”

“Even though this hand might harm you?”

“I know you won't.”

“......”

“Because you’re a good guy.”

Lariensa really deserves to be called the Cloud Academy's Angel. She is beautiful and kind. It wasn't just a compliment, she really is a kind person. 

"You've been very lonely, haven't you?"

She was even comforting Sibel.

Lariensa was different. She was not the kind of person who was only dazzled by his appearance and was different from those who treated him as a monster as soon as he realized his true self.

Realizing that fact, a powerful vortex swirled inside Sibel's mind. 

“Prove it to me now that you meant what you just said.”

I want her.

“What should I do to gain your trust?”

I want to keep her entirely.

Only for me. 

“Kiss me.”

“......”

“If you really don't think I'm a monster, then there's no reason for you not to do it.”

Lariensa, who just wished for Sibel to believe in her, came close to his face without hesitation.

A gratifying smile then rose at the corners of his mouth. 

I should break the angel's wings and lock her in my own cage.』

“AHH!!!”

I managed to wake up with a nearly dying sound. It came to me completely in my dream what exactly happened in chapter 30 of the original story! 

Starting from that incident, Sibel began to plunge Lariensa's life into the ground completely.
